The subject matter experts include Power train design, Structure, Brakes & steering, Hydraulics, Product Integration, Electrical & Instrumentation, Tooling, Quality Management Systems and Production.
Looking at the exponential increase in the demand for earthmoving, Mining and Infrastructure equipments; Merritt has taken a leaping step towards design and manufacturing equipments related to heavy engineering sector.
We decided to proceed ahead with design and proto building of “Rear Axle for Rigid dumper”.
Overview of the Axle design;
First step is to freeze on the vehicle parameters like, Gross vehicle weight, engine power, engine torque, transmission gear ratio and tire size. Next step would be to calculate the generated torque. Prime mover torque is calculated and the slip torque generated from gross vehicle weight is also calculated. Smaller of the above is considered as input torque for calculation.
After completion of the vehicle parameter and torque calculation axle components design are carried out. Axle components include design of differential, bevel gear, planetary gears, axle shafts, brakes, centre housing and bearing. Geometric modeling of the axle / axle components are carried out. Complete assembly of the components is carried out. Next phase is design verification and validation. Once the design validation is completed the manufacturing drawings are prepared.
